🎪 The big techno and hard formats in France this November

Not a single festival in November in our listings, and the month is anything but empty: the big line-ups move into warehouses, large halls and collective birthdays. Six dates built large, bills of ten to eighteen names, and one headliner alone in the newest big room around Paris.

Error Festival, Halloween night at Petit Bain, 31 October to 1 November

Yb70, which bills itself as the first industrial techno promoter in France and the home of the Seppuku and Parazit nights, turns thirty with Error Festival at Petit Bain, the barge at port de la Gare in the 13th. Ten live and DJ sets, including Katran, Duellist, Weever, Iszoloscope and Antechamber; Antechamber and Duellist play Paris for the first time. Techno, EBM and industrial from 8pm to 6am, €15. The night runs into 1 November, which is why it opens this guide after closing our Halloween guide.

MOTUS XXL at La Rotonde Stalingrad, 6 November

After two sold-out editions in a row, Berlin collective Motus takes La Rotonde Stalingrad again from 10pm to 6am, with eighteen names across three rooms: hard house, trance and bounce in the Atrium, house and tech house in the Refuge, techno and hardgroove in the Miniclub. ADB and Nevermind lead. If you come for the hard stuff, aim for the Miniclub and don't linger in the Refuge.

Nico Moreno at the Cité du Cinéma, 20 November

French industrial rave DJ and producer, a main-stage headliner at Tomorrowland, Dour and Awakenings, Nico Moreno takes the Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis, the newest big room around Paris, from 11pm to 6am. The rest of the line-up is not announced. €44.40 on display for a single name: the most expensive ticket in this guide, a festival headliner's price brought indoors.

Organïk at the Nantes Warehouse, 20 November

Organïk closes its year at the Warehouse, quai des Antilles, and puts Jazzy and Yoshiko up front, "the queens of hard" in the promoter's words. Kyzwall, Nøname and Todiefor share the main room; the second one gets Ezza b2b Vaï, HIBI, Klöss and Nemesys. Midnight to 6:30am, €22.99. HIBI also plays MOTUS XXL two weeks earlier: two chances to catch HIBI, in Paris then in Nantes.

10 Years of Rave: Moontrip x Interference, Balma, 20 November

Moontrip celebrates ten years at Interference in Balma, on the edge of Toulouse, with a simple concept: ten years, ten DJs, ten gifts, ten euros. Five b2bs across techno, rave and hardgroove, Aelna b2b Léo, Seven Kyoto b2b 7RTF, Callyope b2b Nnyaster, Jakarta b2b Chocolanouar, Kate b2b APLN, birthday raffle included. From 11:59pm to 6am, €10: the cheapest door in this guide, level with Karnage two weeks earlier in the same city.

Cult Collective & Le Diable Au Corps at Terminus, 21 and 22 November

Cult Collective and Le Diable Au Corps share Terminus in Pantin for a date announced as a Paris one-off: seven artists, seven hours, 11pm to 6am. Old-school mental tekno from Collision, Moldetek and Neurotribe, with Nout Heretik, Radium, Tazlow, and JKLL presenting Arkaïn live. Hardcore and acid, €18.99.

The rest of the month is club business, and the calendar has its knots. Friday 6 stacks Karnage in Toulouse, Kenny Larkin in Marseille, Phase Fatale at Virage and the Pitchfork club night at Le Trabendo, the same night as MOTUS XXL. Lyon crew 23:59 signs three dates (Kodz on the 10th, Mia Mao on the 13th, Le Petit Salon in Lyon on the 20th); we keep one, the hardest.

🎧 Club nights and raves: the rest of the month

TAKE HIT at Mia Mao, 5 November

TAKE HIT opens the month at Mia Mao on Thursday 5, 11pm to 6am, between hard techno, industrial and hardcore. Italian DJ Debbie, founder of the ART.1.43 label, plays her first TAKE HIT night; Rhadamanthe, a rising hard techno name, lands in Paris after Besançon with the same crew this summer; residents KD/MS and Mon.To carry the label's latest releases. Tiers on display from €0 to €25.

Karnage invites Madback Records at Le Rex de Toulouse, 6 November

Madback, Tripped's label, has pushed industrial hardcore and distortion further for ten years. Karnage opens Le Rex de Toulouse for the label's birthday: Matt Green, Tripped, Densha Crisis, Clélia TXN and Steff (VDZ), between hardcore and industrial. From 11:59pm to 5:30am, €10.

Virage presents Phase Fatale, Fasme live, David Carretta and Mon cher Guy, 6 November

Under the ring road, Virage lines up Phase Fatale and a techno shaped by EBM and industrial, David Carretta, a legend of French electro, Fasme with a live set of acid-tinged machines, and Mon cher Guy. Cold wave, EBM and early electro in one night, 11:30pm to 6am, €13. The pick of the 6th if you'd rather have machines than crowds.

Kenny Larkin all night long at Petit Cab, Marseille, 6 November

Kenny Larkin alone on the decks for five hours, 11:30pm to 4:30am, at Petit Cab inside the Friche la Belle de Mai: Detroit techno, and the flyer says so outright. A name from Detroit's second wave for €14, 18+, booked by Extra.

Pitchfork Club Night at Le Trabendo, 6 November

The Pitchfork festival's club night doubles as the release party for Zorza's album. Aamourocean, the project of Paris composer Ulysse Klotz and a figure of the city's gabber scene, plays with Alexi Shell and Promis3: gabber and trance at Le Trabendo, midnight to 6am, €15. Same Parc de la Villette as Le 211, where Hedony turns three on Sunday 8.

23:59 at Kodz: ROOLER, Dual Damage, INCULT, GHOSTY, ENASTORM, 10 November

A Tuesday night, the eve of the 11 November bank holiday: 23:59 brings its hard line-up to Kodz, the warehouse club in Englos just outside Lille and one of the biggest club sound systems in the country. ROOLER, Dual Damage, INCULT, GHOSTY and ENASTORM, rawstyle and hardstyle at full tilt, and the promoters are already warning about your eardrums. 18+, tickets on Shotgun.

reshape: Skee Mask b2b Vlada all night long at essaim, 21 November

Skee Mask and Vlada b2b all night at essaim, rue Philippe de Girard, 11pm to 6:30am, techno and breakbeat. Same mechanics as every date at the venue: the €20 presale gets priority until 1am, more than 250 tickets go on the door from 11pm depending on turnover, and the door staff has the final say. essaim lines up eight dates in November, Nicolas Lutz on the 7th and Ben UFO on the 14th among them; this is the only one with two names for the whole night.

Club Cabaret: Paroxysm invites Lewis Fautzi at the Cabaret Aléatoire, 27 November

For its second edition at the Cabaret Aléatoire, Paroxysm invites Lewis Fautzi, the Portuguese name behind Faut Section, for mental, uncompromising techno; Vekh and Avni Leka, founders of the Paroxysm Ltd label, play alongside. 11pm to 5am, €8 to €16. The Cabaret Aléatoire lines up five dates in November, from LB aka LABAT on the 7th to this one: the rue Jobin venue holds the month in Marseille.
