🇫🇷 France: two festivals and a capital that doesn't sleep

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and France stacks things up: two festivals on the same weekend, in Villepinte and Marseille, while Paris lines up about ten nights between Friday evening and Saturday noon. Nantes, Lyon and Lille follow with one strong date each.

Villepinte or Marseille, 30 and 31 October

Dream Nation takes over the Parc des Expositions in Villepinte on 30 and 31 October: two days of hard dance, from hardstyle to hardcore, with a bass wing alongside. Angerfist, Korsakoff, Da Tweekaz, Hysta and Alignment hold the hard side, Pendulum, Netsky and The Bloody Beetroots the other. Expect 40 to 80 euros depending on the ticket.

Same weekend, different scenery at Marseille's Walking Bass Festival, a "The Last Raver" edition in post-apocalyptic dress. Friday plays in another Marseille venue, the big two-stage lineup lands on Saturday 31 at Parc Chanot, 18:00 to 05:00: Vladimir Cauchemar, Lil Texas, Mandragora, Vortek's b2b Omaks, Medusa, Gonzi. Friday from 27 euros, Saturday from 52, two-day pass from 72. If you are torn between the two, read the section on artists playing twice, further down: several names are booked at both.

Paris, from Friday night to Saturday noon

On Friday 30, Mia Mao launches Analog Echoes, a night made only of live sets on analogue and modular machines: Planetary Assault Systems, FJAAK, Wallis, D-Leria and Latka, midnight to 07:00, tickets at 12, 16 or 20 euros. The same night, Kilomètre25 closes the HUSH season with six producers between bounce and hard trance until 09:00 (20 euros), Virage hosts Le Bal Crade by the Soeurs Malsaines with Romane Santarelli live (12 euros), and essaim turns two on rue Philippe de Girard, eleven hours of techno from 23:00 to 10:00.

On Saturday 31, Mia Mao goes again with Dure Vie: Teki Latex, Wata Igarashi, Tasha and Rin La Dalle, midnight to 07:00, 17 to 22 euros. Disorder turns ten at Virage, staged as a haunted circus, 23:30 to 09:00 for 14 euros. FLUID shows its hard side at La Machine du Moulin Rouge, hardcore and schranz with Lolalita and KimberlaID. At Petit Bain, Yb70 celebrates 30 years with Error Festival, ten live acts and DJs on the industrial techno and EBM side, 20:00 to 06:00, 15 to 20 euros. Kilomètre25 plays its last night of the year under the ring road with Danny Wabbit and THELMA, until noon. Pentagon invites the Happiness Therapy label to La Java, and Onesh takes Noct Club in Pantin on the industrial side, 15 euros.

A word on pacing: the Paris Friday ends late everywhere (09:00 at Kilomètre25, 10:00 at essaim), the Saturday even later. Pick one long night, not two.

Nantes, Lyon, Lille: one strong date each

In Nantes, Nantes Rave Techno builds a 360-degree stage at Warehouse on Friday 30, 23:59 to 06:30. Vladimir Cauchemar, invited every year since 2020 and sold out weeks ahead last time, leads the bill with Shanixx and Noir Mat, with six back to backs from Nantes crews around them, for 22.99 euros. The same night, CONTINUUM invites Loophole to Macadam, 23:00 to 07:00.

In Lyon, Jen Cardini takes over Le Sucre for the whole weekend: Friday is fully in Cardini's hands with Maara, a CUERPOS live and Warum (10 or 14 euros), and Sunday 1 November closes on an all day long from 18:00 to midnight, free to 16 euros. 110.Club opens on Friday from 19:00 with free entry, with Vince Kuzanagi and Nadege Reve.

In Lille, 23:59 hands Kodz to KLOFAMA for a six-hour all night long on Saturday 31, hard techno and hard industrial, while Patate Douce pushes the tables aside at Mother the same night: three DJs from the crew between house, hard groove and bounce, free entry.

🇪🇸 Spain: Barcelona over four nights, Madrid under an arena

On the Spanish side, Halloween plays outdoors as much as in clubs, and it starts on Thursday. Barcelona tops the table with a festival at the Fòrum, a four-room Razzmatazz and a Nitsa booking two nights in a row. Madrid answers with BlackWorks over two evenings and MORD from midnight to noon.

Barcelona outdoors: the Fòrum on the 30th, Razzmatazz on the 1st

On Friday 30, the Balla Halloween Festival opens Parc del Fòrum from 17:00 to 01:00, and the ticket gives access to every stage: Fury celebrates three years there on the hardcore side, KINYXX holds the neighbouring stage, and CLOSA SELECTS makes its festival debut with MRAK as the first name announced. The full lineups of Fury and KINYXX were not out when this guide went live.

Two days later, on Sunday 1 November, Fury Festival returns to Razzmatazz for a Halloween warehouse rave across four rooms, doors at 17:00, with four crews curating: Fury, Madhouse, KINYXX and Hardcore Maniaks. Art of Fighters headlines, with Vortek's, Lady Dammage, Revenja, Pinotello and Samuel Moriero around, from 22.50 euros. For the crew's story, the Fury portrait tells how a Barcelona hardcore night ended up filling Razz.

Barcelona in the clubs: Nitsa, Detroit, Village Underground

Nitsa books two nights: Miss Bashful live, MGNA Crrrta, Luca Eck and Rattlesnakke on Friday, then Oscar Mulero on Saturday 31 with Dj Fra and Sylvia, 23:59 to 06:00. On Saturday the Astin room has its own entrance and its own ticket, with Verushka b2b Bella Sarris and Cashu with Meritxell De Soto. Expect 22 to 25 euros a night.

In L'Hospitalet, Detroit Club runs night after night: Sharameet and Kabylie Minogue's Arabic-tinged techno on Friday (15 euros), then VERRÜCKT on Saturday for a Schranz Night at 12 euros, while Voltage announces its own Halloween edition at the same club, hard techno, schranz and industrial, lineup still to come. Also in L'Hospitalet, 01366 turns five at Village Underground on Saturday, twelve hours from 18:00 to 06:00 between outdoors and indoors, with Pequod's four-point hi-fi sound system, 18 euros.

Thursday 29 opens the weekend at City Hall with Sara Krin and City Hell, between hard techno, schranz and hardcore. And for anyone wanting out of the city, The Tower stages a double-format Halloween at a secret location half an hour away by road: a dark room of hard techno and hardgroove, 23:59 to 10:00, 18 euros.

Madrid, from the Leganés arena to the MORD showcase

BlackWorks takes over La Cubierta de Leganés for two nights, 30 and 31, doors at 18:00: SNTS and a 6EJOU live open the run of b2bs, then Aiden b2b Ornella, Ben Techy b2b Luciid, SLVL b2b USH, with A.N.I., Dexphase, Jovynn, Vendex and others around. Hard techno under a covered arena, by a crew we have already profiled.

On Saturday 31, the MORD label holds its Halloween showcase at Lasociaciøn, raw techno from midnight to noon with Bas Mooy, Earwax, Mario Blur, Ricardo Morales and Unkle Fon, 25 euros. Careful, entry is members only, checked at the door, and guaranteed only before 03:00. The night before, Sam Paganini returns to EKHO at ART Madrid Club, and Bassroom holds Octogon from 23:59 to 08:00 between hardgroove, makina and hard techno.

The rest of the Madrid weekend fits in three addresses: El Sótano, which opens on Thursday with KRYPT's sixth edition and closes on Sunday with Riot Club until 07:00 (free to 16 euros); Sala Cocó, where Hybrid spends Halloween on hardbounce with SZG headlining, 10 euros; and Studio76, where Red Moon plays vinyl, techno and hard groove from 23:59 to 10:00.

Valencia and Málaga: Spook and Paris15

In Pinedo, Spook, the club running since 1984, calls its Halloween La Noche de la Bestia and splits it across three rooms on Saturday 31 from 22:00: the main room goes hard with Cassie Raptor, DYEN and A.N.I., the Cube goes back to Total with Inés Isla, and Special-K fills the Sunbox with Laia and Sugar Free. In Málaga, two crews, Abstractechno and H4T3R, take Paris15 from just before midnight to 07:00: CLTX, Daniella da Silva, GNRØ and Nico Bondi on pure techno.

🔁 The ones playing twice this weekend

Putting the two countries side by side brings out the journeys. Samuel Moriero is on all three big bills: Dream Nation in Villepinte, Walking Bass in Marseille and Fury Festival at Razzmatazz on Sunday. Vortek's plays Marseille b2b with Omaks, then Barcelona on the 1st. Mandragora and Dual Damage are booked in both Villepinte and Marseille, and Vladimir Cauchemar leads Nantes Rave Techno on Friday while also appearing at Walking Bass.

In Spain, Luciid holds INPUT in Barcelona on Friday 30 and appears b2b with Ben Techy on the BlackWorks bill in Leganés. A.N.I. is both at BlackWorks and in the Spook main room in Pinedo. If a name is missing on one side, check the other bill before drawing conclusions.

💸 Free entry, afters and nights that end at noon

Free does exist this weekend. PÜR Society opens on Thursday 29 at Garage 442 in Barcelona, techno from 22:30 to 03:00 with free entry. In Paris, the first edition of Perspective at Punk Paradise is free on Thursday too, 250 places, from vinyl house at 20:00 to hardgroove until 02:00. In Lyon, 110.Club is free on Friday from 19:00, and in Lille, Patate Douce x Mother asks nothing at the door on Saturday. Madrid has free early-access tickets at ANFANG at Cadavra on Thursday and at Riot Club on Sunday, while they last. Badaboum, for its part, goes free from 04:30 on Friday night.

For afters, Paris is well served: Glazart from 06:00 to 16:00 on Saturday, Kilomètre25 until 09:00 on Friday and until noon on Saturday, essaim until 10:00 then 11:00 over its two birthday nights. In Madrid, Red Moon runs until 10:00, Bassroom until 08:00 and MORD until noon. In Barcelona, The Tower closes at 10:00.
