Hardcore

Hardcore is the fast, distorted heart of the hard scene : kicks pushed to 160-200 BPM, gabber roots, no let-up. It splinters into frenchcore, uptempo and darker strains, but the through-line is speed and saturation. On calrave it's a French stronghold. Lyon's 23:59, Lille's Le Coven and Bordeaux's Skullcore all fly the flag, and the sound runs hard through Paris and Toulouse on Thunder and Organïk bills. Madrid's Nexus carries it on the Spanish side.

This is rave at its most physical, the warehouse-and-open-air end where the tempo never drops. If clean and hypnotic is what you're after, look elsewhere.
