Rex Club is Paris's techno temple. Its first electronic nights date to 1988, in the basement of the Grand Rex cinema at 5 boulevard Poissonnière ; it became the capital's electronic reference point, with one of the best sound systems in Paris. Wednesday to Saturday, midnight to 7am.
This is where Laurent Garnier set up his Wake Up! residency back in 1992, the founding act of French techno at the Rex. The club is still his home : he comes back regularly, often all night long with DJ Deep. A sharp techno programme, local and international, running all year.
On the grands boulevards (Bonne Nouvelle metro), the Rex plays demanding underground in the basement of an art deco landmark. No frills, just sound : the club where Paris techno was written and still is.
