About
Pacha opened in 1973, when the brothers Ricardo and Piti Urgell bought a plot at Talamanca, just north of Ibiza Town, with an old Spanish farmhouse standing on it. They had run their first club in Sitges since 1967. The farmhouse became the room, the cherries became the logo, and fifty-three years later both are still there. Worth noting alongside DC-10 : the two oldest clubs on the island are both converted farms, which says something about how Ibiza built its nightlife, out of what was already standing.
The room holds 3,000. It runs 65 dates this season and we publish twenty of them, which is the honest number. Mau P, Sonny Fodera, Purple Disco Machine, Robin Schulz, Gordo and Flower Power fill most of the calendar and sit outside what calrave covers. What holds is Friday and Sunday.
Friday is Music On, Marco Carola's night, eleven dates with East End Dubs, Luciano, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi and Adriatique passing through. Sunday is Solomun +1, the format where he plays with exactly one guest : Âme, Barry Can't Swim, KETTAMA, DJ Gigola, Desiree, and three all-night-long sets on his own.
The date that tells you what this residency can get away with is 11 September. Music On brings in Arapu, Priku and Traumer, the Romanian minimal circuit at full strength, into the most mainstream room on the island. Twenty years of residency buys that kind of booking. Music On closes on 9 October with Carola all night long, Solomun on 4 October.
