The venues

Barraca is the institution : opened in 1965 in Sueca, right by Les Palmeres beach, it's the oldest electronic club still running in Spain and a pillar of the Ruta Destroy. 4 rooms, Funktion-One, techno, minimal and house, with Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and Óscar Mulero all through.

Spook Club, 12 km south, runs 2 floors and 2000 capacity for its Spook Factory nights (shuttles from Valencia, Friday and Saturday until 7am). In town, La 3 on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez holds underground techno-house across two rooms. MYA, in the Umbracle of the City of Arts (Calatrava architecture), plays the mainstream big format, worth a mention for the setting more than the underground.

The festivals

Blackworks lands its first Valencia Open Air on 11 and 12 July 2026 at Port de Sagunt, a former industrial port zone turned techno-futuristic set : hard techno, giant LED screens, 8000 people a day (BIIA, Daria Kolosova, SNTS, Svetec, Warface).

Then Medusa Sunbeach runs from 13 to 17 August on Cullera beach, one of the biggest beach festivals in Europe. In Valencia, summer is the big season.

The birthplace, feet in the sand

Valencia is where it all started. The Ruta Destroy (aka Ruta del Bakalao) of the 80s and 90s is the cradle of Spanish rave culture, long before Madrid built Fabrik. Barraca, opened in 1965, is the oldest electronic club still standing in Spain, and it's 200 metres from the beach. That detail says everything : here techno happens in the sun, feet in the sand, in clubs that feel more like seaside hideouts than factories.

Where Madrid pushes the urban, industrial big format, Valencia has a unique outdoor, coastal club culture, plus a Valencian mákina (the Pastis & Buenri sound that spread as far as Toulouse) you won't find anywhere else at this intensity. Valencia dates surface in the list opposite week after week.
