The venues

Sala Gold, in the old town, is the city's techno-house reference : a solid system, LEDs and light robots, a young international crowd, open until 7am at weekends. Andén, on Plaza Uncibay since 1988, plays the historic multi-room club, techno, house and commercial, an older crowd. Gallery Club rounds out the electronic programming, house and techno, with national and international DJs.

Let's be honest : Malaga's pure club scene stays modest, more mainstream than underground. The city makes up for it elsewhere.

The festivals

This is where Malaga hits back. Dreambeach lands on 31 July and 1 August 2026 at the Recinto Ferial in Vélez-Málaga : for its 12th edition the festival leaves Almería after more than a decade, moving upmarket with David Guetta headlining (his Monolith Show), 4 stages and over 90,000 people expected.

In town, elrow brings its immersive show to the Málaga Forum on 22 August, and elrow Town sets up in Marbella this summer (date to confirm). Summer is the only real season here.

The Costa del Sol paradox

Malaga is the Spanish paradox : the most touristy city on the Costa del Sol has a modest local club scene but a unique concentration of summer festivals. The Málaga-Marbella axis is Spain's capital of luxury clubbing : Marbella and Puerto Banús pull a wealthy international crowd toward the high end (Ocean Club, Olivia Valere), light-years from underground techno.

Dreambeach itself shows the tension : after eleven years in Almería's alternative scene, it moves to the Costa del Sol for a commercial step up, David Guetta on top. Malaga isn't a city of local clubbers, it's a city of passing-through, and its scene lives in summer, carried by European tourism and big formats. Malaga dates surface in the list opposite week after week.
