The venues

Razzmatazz, a former Poblenou warehouse turned 5-room complex, carries techno in its Loft (hard techno and industrial, Oscar Mulero, Ben Sims, Alignment) : the city's biggest club infrastructure, half locals half tourists. INPUT High Fidelity Dance Club built its reputation on sound alone, demanding underground techno, the purists' club.

Nitsa Club, in the Sala Apolo for over 30 years, runs the most avant-garde programming (Aphex Twin, Helena Hauff, Bicep in residence), two rooms on Friday and Saturday. And Moog, in El Raval since 1996, ~100 capacity, a cult after-hours, techno and minimal with no compromise.

The festivals

Barcelona moves to the rhythm of Sónar : 18 to 20 June 2026 at Fira Gran Via, with OFFSónar and Sónar Week spilling across the whole city (Poble Espanyol, Nitsa, Input, Razzmatazz) until the 21st. Brunch Electronik follows at Parc del Fòrum on 7 August, SoundIT sets up by the water in El Prat on 17 July.

The autumn is heavy : Blackworks lands at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 11 September, Duro Festival drops Catalonia's biggest techno gathering in Montmeló on 10 and 11 October (3 stages, 60-plus artists, hard techno and makina), and Fury Festival turns Razzmatazz into a Halloween warehouse rave on 1 November.

The anti-Madrid

Barcelona is Madrid's opposite. Where Madrid owns the megaclub and popular hard techno, Barcelona plays curation and rigour : Nitsa and INPUT don't book the same names as Fabrik, and that's deliberate. It's also Spain's only scene with a real daytime culture : Brunch Electronik at Parc del Fòrum, OFF-Sónar on the Poble Espanyol terraces, SoundIT on the beach.

You dance in the sun before finishing the night at Moog, a day/night format that doesn't exist in Madrid. The flip side : it's the capital of European electro tourism, and in June during Sónar the city drowns in festival-goers from all over the world, something clubs like INPUT and Nitsa work to counterbalance. Barcelona dates surface in the list opposite week after week.
